In the 73rd minute, Nübel denied Orban when he was through on goal after receiving Bates’ pass. Beşiktaş was awarded a penalty in the 90+4th minute following a VAR review after the team appealed that Orkun Kökçü’s shot had struck an opposing player’s hand. Orkun converted the penalty in the 90+8th minute to set the final score at 3-2.
After the final whistle, Amed Sportif Faaliyetler head coach Besnik Hasi was shown a red card for protesting to the referee.
Amedspor criticizes the refereeing
Amed Sportif Faaliyetler club president Nahit Eren thanked the team, players, coaching staff and supporters in his post-match remarks. Eren criticized the 14 minutes of added time and the referee’s decisions, arguing that stoppage time had continued until the opposing team scored.
Eren said Amedspor aimed to remain in the Süper Lig and challenge for the upper places with its modestly funded squad. The club president called on the Turkish Football Federation, saying the referee’s decisions should not overshadow the fight the team had brought to the league.
Amed Sportif Faaliyetler assistant coach Stef Wils said the team had shown high energy in the first half and deserved its 2-0 lead. Wils said they had dropped deeper in the second half but that the players had remained mentally strong.
Wils said the team had reached 13 points and entered the international break at the top of the league table. The assistant coach emphasized that only six matches of the season had been completed and said they needed to continue working.
Italiano: We were poor in the first half
Beşiktaş head coach Vincenzo Italiano congratulated Amed Sportif Faaliyetler on the victory. Italiano said Beşiktaş had started the match poorly and that the opponent had taken full advantage.
Italiano said his team had played poorly in the first half and that its reaction after the break had not been enough to turn the match around. The coach said there had been many physical duels during the game, adding that the referee had not been the central figure and that his team needed to focus on its first-half performance.
Italiano said they had opened the season on June 27 and drew attention to the fatigue caused by European matches. The Beşiktaş head coach said Trossard was still experiencing pain and that he expected the player to return to the team in about three weeks.
