Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek made statements about the club’s projects, sporting objectives and summer transfer window during the September ordinary council meeting held at Galatasaray High School.
Congratulating students on the new academic year, Özbek said Galatasaray was a sports club whose roots lay in education. He said they attached importance to young people receiving a good education and growing into individuals committed to Atatürk’s principles who would benefit their country and society.
Metin Oktay remembered
Özbek also remembered Galatasaray legend Metin Oktay. He said Oktay was one of the club’s greatest figures not only because of the goals he scored and the successes he achieved, but also because of his devotion to Galatasaray, character, sportsmanship and principles.
Aslantepe Valley project continues
Özbek said the Leo Residence project was nearing completion and that partial deliveries had begun. He said the Aslantepe Valley project was being carried out on an area of approximately 62 decares, adding that construction had begun on the facilities Galatasaray needed and that work was continuing.
Özbek said the sports complex would serve basketball, volleyball, swimming and indoor sports. He announced that piling and excavation work was continuing, that the project was planned to be completed as soon as possible and that the facility was expected to pay for itself in approximately 10 years.
Payment of 1.085 billion lira for the Florya land
Providing information about the Florya project, Özbek said that 22 decares of the 65-decare plot belonged to Galatasaray, while the remaining section was public land. He said the club had been working since 2022 to acquire the entire plot for Galatasaray and create a fund with the resulting revenue to support the club’s future and amateur sports.
Özbek announced that the section not owned by the club had been purchased for 1.085 billion lira, with the payment made through a loan arranged via Galatasaray Gayrimenkul AŞ, and that the title deed had been transferred to Galatasaray. He said Galatasaray had assumed the debt for the property it acquired.
Permit process cleared for the second phase in Kemerburgaz
Özbek said the first phase of the project in Kemerburgaz had been completed and that the permit issues affecting the second phase had been resolved. He said the infrastructure in Florya and the women’s football team would move to Kemerburgaz as soon as possible and that the facility was ready.

Goal of 10 Cafe il Gala stores
Özbek said the first branch of the club’s “Cafe il Gala” project would open in Mecidiyeköy and that construction would begin. He said they were also working to open a second store on Istiklal Avenue, adding that their goal was to reach 10 Cafe il Gala stores and then generate revenue through franchising in Türkiye and abroad.
Galatasaray targets a fifth consecutive championship
Özbek said the Galatasaray football team had won its fourth consecutive Trendyol Super League title and raised its total number of championships to 26. He thanked the coaching staff and players.
Özbek said the goals for the new season were to win a fifth consecutive championship and reach a 27th title, as well as achieve success in Europe befitting Galatasaray’s name. He said the club would preserve its identity as a club that develops players in basketball, volleyball, women’s football and other sports.
Cost focus in transfer planning
Özbek said there had been delays in adding players to the squad during the summer transfer window and that financial planning was among the reasons. He said they had begun transfer talks on the day the championship was won and prepared the budget accordingly.
Özbek said transfers were assessed both in terms of their impact on sporting performance and on the club’s financial structure. He said transfers made in July would have cost approximately €50 million more, adding that completing transfers early and having players join the training camp were important, but that the financial aspect also had to be taken into account.
Özbek said he considered the transfer window successful and that Galatasaray would continue working to complete its facilities, strengthen its financial structure and build teams competing for championships in all sports.
