Antalya, one of the world's leading tourism destinations, welcomed more than 10 million foreign tourists from the beginning of the year through August 21.
Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom ranked among the countries sending the most tourists to the city. Antalya continues to attract visitors from different countries.
Antalya prepares to host two international events
Antalya will host the 77th International Astronautical Congress in October. The 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP31, will take place in the city from November 9 to 20.
The president of the association representing hotel owners and tourism operators in the Mediterranean region announced that the number of foreign tourists arriving in Antalya between January 1 and August 21 had exceeded 10 million.
Occupancy increased during the summer
İsmail Çağlar, operations manager at IC Hotels Green Palace, said the winter season had been quite strong, but that wars in neighboring countries and geopolitical developments in May and June had affected the sector.
Çağlar said hotel occupancy rates rose during the summer, with increases recorded particularly in July and August.
Çağlar said holding the International Astronautical Congress and COP31 during the final part of the tourism season was important for the sector. He noted that numerous reservations had been made in the Belek and Kundu areas and that they were looking forward to the two major events.
