Antalya's new arts season will feature around 25 concerts every Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Atatürk Cultural Center. The season opened with Carmina Burana, the world-famous work by German composer Carl Orff.
ADSO Director Utku Kapcı said the concerts and artists scheduled for the new season were highly valuable. Special concerts will be held for major events including the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the International Space Congress and COP31.
Many concerts will also be held as part of the Culture Route Festival. New works will be added to the repertoire, while the Nasreddin Hodja Suite will be performed for the first time.
New works and special concerts
Music composed by Muammer Sun for the film Kurtuluş will be performed again after many years. Selected excerpts from the work are also planned to be presented as part of the Commemoration Concert for Atatürk.
İlyas Mirzayev's Violin Concerto will be presented to audiences at its world premiere on October 16. With DenizBank as the principal supporter, a Commemoration Concert for Atatürk will be held on November 13, a Commemoration Concert for İsmet İnönü on December 18, and a New Year's Special Concert on December 25.
The Antalya Children's Choir will perform for the third time on April 23. The season's closing concert will take place at the ancient Aspendos Theater on May 28, 2027.
The season will conclude with the Beethoven Now concert conducted by Aleksey Igudesman. The concert is planned to be held amid the atmosphere of the ancient Aspendos Theater.
Rising attendance rates
Kapcı said the institution was carrying out efforts to contribute to Antalya's artistic life and that they were pleased with the interest from art lovers. Rehearsals continue at the Atatürk Cultural Center to provide audiences with a season filled with art.
ADSO's attendance rates were between 40% and 50% in 2024, while last season concluded at between 80% and 90%. Similar interest is expected in the new season after numerous concerts sold out days in advance.
Kapcı said orchestral musicians with 10, 20 and 30 years of experience would perform together on the same stage, adding that they aimed to bring audiences together with unforgettable works.
