ASELSAN’s locally produced heart-lung machine has saved the lives of 57 patients to date. According to the announced data, only four countries worldwide can manufacture devices of this kind.

The machine was developed with the Ministry of Health
Known as LIFELINE HLM, the device was developed entirely with domestic resources through cooperation between ASELSAN, the Ministry of Health and the Presidency of Turkish Health Institutes (TÜSEB). Heart-lung machines temporarily take over the functions of the heart and lungs during open-heart surgeries.
In preclinical laboratory tests, the new-generation device delivered better results than existing foreign-made devices.
The first surgery was performed at Bilkent City Hospital
The first surgery using the machine was performed on June 24, 2026, at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. Following the successful operation, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu visited 51-year-old Bülent Yeniay, the first patient.
The locally produced heart-lung machine is expected to be used widely in hospitals, reducing reliance on foreign products in this field.
