Australia's eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant announced that a lawsuit will be filed against Telegram in federal court. Grant said, 'We have accused Telegram of failing to detect, prevent, and block pro-terror content.'
Inman Grant argued that Telegram did not remove content linked to terrorist incidents even after users became aware of it, adding that this included videos of the Christchurch mosque attacks and the supermarket shootings in the US.
Pointing out that these videos sometimes remained on the platform for up to three months, Inman Grant shared, 'It is more important than ever for platforms to fulfill their responsibilities.'
