Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat received Cameroon's Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey, in Istanbul during Mey's visit to Türkiye. In a post on his social media account following the meeting, Bolat said that the commercial and economic relations between the two countries had been discussed in all their dimensions.
According to Bolat, the meeting addressed steps that could be taken to further increase bilateral trade, which reached a historic level in 2025, and to strengthen through new projects the cooperation built around projects worth more than $1 billion undertaken by Turkish contractors in Cameroon.

Tax treaty expected to accelerate investment
The two ministers agreed to complete negotiations on the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation, which is expected to make a significant contribution to investment ties, and to bring the agreement into force as soon as possible. The meeting also addressed projects that Turkish companies could undertake in Cameroon and new investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, energy, tourism and services.
Bolat emphasized that Türkiye continues to develop its relations with the African continent on the basis of "mutual trust, common interests and a win-win approach," adding that concrete steps would be taken in the coming period to elevate trade, investment and sectoral cooperation with Cameroon to a higher level.
