Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that with the commissioning of the Yalova-Armutlu Road, travel time between Yalova and Esenköy and Armutlu has dropped from 1 hour to about 30 minutes. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Uraloğlu said the project saves 260 million lira annually in time and fuel, and reduces carbon emissions by 900 tons.
6 tunnels and 4 viaducts along the 45-kilometer route
Of the total 45-kilometer route connecting Yalova to Esenköy and Armutlu, 10.7 kilometers were built as a dual carriageway with hot mix asphalt, and 31.8 kilometers with surface dressing. To ease traffic congestion at the Esenköy crossing, the project included 6 tunnels totaling 6,140 meters, 4 viaducts totaling 529 meters, and 5 bridges totaling 284 meters.
Annual savings of 260 million lira
Minister Uraloğlu noted that the road yields total savings of 260 million lira, comprising 240 million lira in time and 20 million lira in fuel. He also emphasized that the 900-ton reduction in carbon emissions creates an environmentally friendly transport alternative.
144 billion lira investment in Yalova's transport infrastructure
Noting that approximately 144 billion lira has been invested in Yalova's transport and communication infrastructure over the past 24 years, Uraloğlu said the Istanbul-Izmir Motorway and the Osmangazi Bridge have brought the city closer to Istanbul and Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
New projects on the way
Uraloğlu stated that construction of the Yalova Southern Ring Road is also underway, and that this project will reduce travel time from 19 minutes to 3 minutes and will later connect to the southern motorway.
