DMM said the claim that forest areas burned in 2021 in Beyciler neighborhood of Muğla’s Milas district had been opened for development did not reflect the truth.
The statement said the parcels numbered 15, 16 and 115 in block 101 and parcel number 1 in block 102 in Beyciler neighborhood, which were identified in the images and content related to the claim, were not forest areas.
Attention drawn to cadastral records
DMM said official cadastral records showed that the properties in question were privately owned land registered in the names of individuals. It therefore emphasized that the parcels did not have the status of forest land.
Afforestation work in burned areas
The statement said afforestation and rehabilitation work had been carried out in forest areas damaged by fires in Milas and Marmaris in 2021.
DMM also referred to data from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s Global Forest Resources Assessment, stating that Türkiye ranked third worldwide among countries carrying out the most afforestation and first in Europe.
The statement called on the public not to give credence to content intended to create a false perception through properties classified as land without checking their land and cadastral status, and to rely on official statements.
