Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran spoke at the Anadolu Agency (AA) News Awards Ceremony held in the Parliament Ceremony Hall under the auspices of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.
Duran said, "Our Center for Combating Disinformation works together with all our public institutions to quickly identify fake content and provide accurate information." Emphasizing that the primary priority in combating disinformation is for citizens to develop media literacy skills, Duran said education and projects in this field are continuing.

Recalling that AA was established during the years of the National Struggle on Mustafa Kemal's instructions to explain the nation's cause to the world, Duran said the agency is now one of Türkiye's well-established institutions. Arguing that global media are sometimes used to legitimize military interventions, Duran cited the days-long live coverage of the 1991 Gulf War as an example.
Stating that journalists have changed the dominant narrative about Gaza since October 7, Duran said, "You exposed the killers live," and commemorated the journalists who lost their lives in Israel's attacks. Saying, "We need journalism's guiding role more than ever," Duran pledged support for quality journalism and better working conditions for journalists.
