The Edirne Governorate has taken measures against the increased risk of forest fires during the summer months. A statement from the governorate noted that rising temperatures lead to increased human and vehicle activity in forested areas.
A decision was made in accordance with relevant legal provisions to prevent fires that could be caused intentionally or through negligence. Accordingly, entry to forested areas in Edirne is banned from June 20 to October 15.
Scope of the Ban and Exceptions
The measure does not include forest parks and nature parks. It was announced that activities such as picnics, hiking, and sports can continue in these areas.
However, in all other forested regions outside these parks, lighting barbecues, using gas cylinders, camping, smoking hookah, and any kind of fire ignition are strictly prohibited.
Burning Ban in Rural Areas
The statement also announced that burning for cleaning purposes will not be permitted in villages and neighborhoods inside forests, adjacent to forests, or unrelated to forests.
It was reported that burning trees, branches, and any kind of vegetation for stubble, vineyard, orchard, olive grove, and field cleaning is also banned.
