Last week in İzmir, Can Polat, who was both the cousin and bodyguard of Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, was killed in a shooting. When the investigation extended to connections in Istanbul, the case was transferred from the Çeşme Public Prosecutor’s Office to the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office.
During operations conducted in Istanbul as part of the investigation, two more suspects who were involved with the gunman and supplied the weapon were arrested. The four suspects taken into custody were referred to the courthouse after their procedures were completed and were subsequently detained.
While family members’ reactions at Can Polat’s funeral became a topic of discussion, the controversy grew after Dilan Polat was blamed on social media. During this process, Dilan Polat’s Instagram account was closed by court order.
Engin Polat drew attention with a new post. Sharing a photo with Can Polat, Polat added Muazzez Ersoy’s song "Elbet bir gün bulaşacağız" to the post.
The post sparked renewed discussion about the events following Can Polat’s death. The investigation and social media reactions brought family-related debates back into the spotlight once again.
