President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent his greetings to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people as his plane crossed Azerbaijani airspace during his visit to South Korea. The message was relayed by the presidential plane’s pilot over the radio to Azerbaijani air traffic control.
In the message, according to a video shared by Azerbaijan’s state news agency AZERTAC, Erdoğan said: "As I pass through the airspace of brotherly Azerbaijan during my journey to South Korea, I convey, on behalf of myself and my delegation, my most sincere greetings and best wishes to Your Excellency and the Azerbaijani people."
"Our allied relationship will continue to grow stronger"
Erdoğan said he had once again expressed his belief that the allied relationship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to develop and grow stronger in the future. Congratulating the upcoming November 8 Victory Day, Erdoğan wished Azerbaijan lasting peace, prosperity and progress.
In the 44-day war in the autumn of 2020, the Azerbaijani army retook much of Karabakh, which had been under Armenian occupation for nearly 30 years, and liberated the city of Shusha on November 8, 2020. The date was declared Victory Day by decree of Aliyev. Türkiye’s support, particularly its Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles, played a decisive role in Baku’s victory.
Erdoğan is making official contacts in South Korea from November 1 to 4 at the invitation of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
