European champion and national boxer Ayşenur Karaoğlan is preparing to win another gold medal at the European Under-23 Championships, which will be held in Croatia from November 14 to 25.
The 19-year-old athlete is continuing her preparations for the tournament with the national team at the Kadıdağı Boxing Camp Training Center in Kastamonu, following an intensive training program.
She took up boxing at a gym she visited for volleyball
Ayşenur Karaoğlan said she began boxing at the age of 15. She explained that she turned to boxing after her coach at the gym she visited to enroll in volleyball decided that her physique was better suited to individual sports.
Karaoğlan said she won the European title in her third year after taking up boxing and that she was pleased with that decision.

She will compete at 75 kilograms this time
Karaoğlan won the 80-kilogram category at last year's European Youth Boxing Championships, held in Ostrava, Czechia, and has moved to a different weight class in the Under-23 category. The national boxer will enter the ring at 75 kilograms in the new tournament.
Karaoğlan said she aims to win the European title again, while her next major goals are the world championships and the Olympics. The athlete emphasized that the biggest goal of her career is to compete in the Olympics.
"Women's boxing is in a magnificent place"
Thanking her coaches, Karaoğlan said women's boxing had gained significant momentum. The national boxer noted that female athletes had come to the fore through their achievements and said they aimed to keep women's boxing at the top together with the athletes who would follow them.
