Expropriation decision announced for TPAO oil fields in Diyarbakır
The General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG) of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has decided to expropriate TPAO's oil fields in Diyarbakır.
Some fields of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) in Diyarbakır will be expropriated. The decision on expropriation by the General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG) of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources was published in the Official Gazette.
After evaluating TPAO's application, MAPEG decided to expropriate several plots within Diyarbakır’s borders that are needed for oil operations, serve the public interest, could not be acquired through agreement because the requested prices exceeded market value, and are under an urgent confiscation order.
