“We are contributing to insurance accessibility through balanced pricing” Türkiye Sigorta General Manager Taha Çakmak said the financial results achieved in the first half of 2026 were the result of a strong balance sheet, effective cost management, financial discipline and a customer-focused growth strategy. “Our companies continued their successful financial performance in the first half of this year and continued to create value for all their stakeholders.
“Türkiye Sigorta ranked first in profitability in the life and non-life sectors in the first quarter, while Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik ranked second. This is the most important indicator of our companies’ strong financial performance. Both of our companies, which are competing with each other in the life and non-life sectors, successfully maintained their leading positions in profitability and premium production in the second quarter.
“At the heart of our success are the campaigns we introduced in the first six months of the year as part of our strategy to combat inflation and improve access to insurance, as well as effective risk management, our disciplined pricing policy, operational efficiency and a management approach that adapts quickly to changing economic conditions.
“These approaches further strengthened our financial performance and created a solid foundation for our long-term goals. In the first half of 2026, it was insurance itself—not investment income—that set the record. While sector averages were above 110%, our combined ratio remained below 100% for the tenth consecutive quarter, falling to 88%, its best level in our history,” he said.
Çakmak said that during the fight against inflation, the companies acted with a balanced pricing approach that protected their financial strength while keeping insurance affordable. He continued: “At the end of June 2026, the annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 32.1%, while insurance inflation was 15.5% over the same period, significantly below the CPI.
“As a sector leader and market-making company, we contributed to insurance inflation remaining below annual CPI through the measures we took, discounts we offered and campaigns providing payment flexibility, particularly in individual product groups.
“In the first six months of the year, we reached TRY 10.6 billion in premium production in health insurance and TRY 9.9 billion in the motor own-damage segment, up 30%, once again demonstrating our ability to manage growth in a balanced manner through competitive pricing.
“By achieving real growth above insurance inflation, converting that growth into technical profit, diversifying our investment portfolio and improving access to insurance, we achieved our goals in every area in the first half of 2026. In line with our vision of combating inflation and providing insurance for everyone, we continued to grow in some individual product groups without raising prices.
“Thanks to our effective pricing management, we not only increased our production but also further strengthened our sector leadership. With this approach, we brought more citizens under insurance protection and made significant progress toward our goal of making insurance accessible to every segment of society.
“Compared with the sector as a whole, Türkiye Sigorta's premium production of TRY 94 billion in the first six months created a TRY 18 billion gap with our closest competitor and a TRY 40 billion gap with the sector’s third- and fourth-largest companies, which makes us very proud.” Çakmak also said they maintained their leadership in the agriculture and fire/natural disaster segments in the first half of the year, as in previous years.
“Our goal is to make insurance accessible to everyone” Çakmak stressed that their primary goal was to increase the insurance coverage rate in the country by making insurance accessible to every segment of society. He said they continuously improved their products, services and processes by taking into account the changing needs of different income groups and customer segments.
Çakmak said: “In line with our strategy of making insurance accessible to everyone, we introduced pioneering product and service campaigns in the first half of the year.
“We supported our customers with campaigns offering installments at the cash price for motor own-damage and traffic insurance, a supplementary health insurance campaign for young people aged 18-26, a life insurance campaign offering a one-month premium refund to raise awareness and penetration in life insurance, and special campaigns providing payment flexibility and additional contributions for individual products.
“Through our investments in digitalization, multiple distribution channels and customer-focused approach, we continue to provide faster, easier and more effective service to customers at every level,” he said.
“We added another record in profitability and premium production” Taha Çakmak said they continued to strengthen their balance sheets through sustainable growth and high profitability, adding: “In the first half of 2026, we continued to break our own records. In the first half, our two companies achieved record combined net profit of TRY 24.5 billion, an increase of 48%.
“Our premium production figures were the clearest indicator of our corporate performance.” Taha Çakmak said Türkiye Sigorta delivered a strong performance in the first half as the only insurance company in the BIST 50 Index and that the block share sale received strong demand. He said: “More than four times the offered amount was demanded in the sale of the shares to international institutional investors through an accelerated book-building process.
“Thus, TVF’s 5% stake in Türkiye Sigorta was fully sold to international institutional investors for approximately USD 150 million (TRY 6.75 billion), following strong demand. Our free-float ratio rose to 23.9%, increasing liquidity and access for foreign investors,” he said.
Çakmak said that Türkiye Sigorta and Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik operated with an approach that considers not only today’s needs but also those of the future, adding that they would continue to support their strong corporate structures with the goal of sustainable profitable growth.
Çakmak said they would continue to increase product diversity, improve service quality and bring insurance to broader segments of society while contributing to the country’s economic development.
