Green transformation is on the sector’s agenda
Mete Akcan, chairman of the Southeast Anatolia Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association, said textiles are an important sector for the region. Akcan said strong results had been achieved in yarn, fabric and fiber.
Akcan said the sector needed to comply with the European Green Deal and carbon footprint regulations in the coming period. He said producing products alone would not be sufficient in textiles and that sustainable, measurable and value-added products would become increasingly important.
Akcan said being one of the world’s major suppliers in textile exports strengthened the region’s position and that opportunities, particularly in the European market, would continue if preparations were made for 2030.
