The Foreign Ministry issued a written statement regarding remarks made in Greece.
The statement rejected as baseless remarks by Greek authorities concerning the period when Greece was attempting to occupy and invade Anatolia. The ministry called on Greek officials to act with seriousness and common sense.
The statement also said that Greece had carried out mass killings and destruction against civilians in Anatolia during that period. The ministry argued that the crimes in question and the obligation to pay compensation were acknowledged under Article 59 of the Lausanne Peace Treaty.
