A ceremony was held at Kartal Anatolian Imam Hatip High School to mark the opening of the academic year. Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Interior Kübra Güran Yiğitbaşı said that one of the most valuable features she had observed at the school was its sense of belonging.
Yiğitbaşı said young people and adults were living through a period in which their ties to their country, nation, families and spiritual values had become limited. She noted that alongside spiritual values, the motivation to produce scientific work and achieve success also contributed to the school’s achievements.
Yiğitbaşı emphasized the importance of feeling part of a family and belonging to a broader community. She noted that the school principal, deputy principals and teachers had also been educated at the school, adding that the Education Foundation, board of trustees, donors and supporters drew on the environment created by the school.
Yiğitbaşı stressed that preserving a sense of belonging and strengthening ties was an important achievement. She said the participation of middle school students in the school was also a source of hope for future generations. She added that every step taken by young people could inspire young people in different parts of Türkiye and the world.
Yiğitbaşı said she had graduated from Ankara Central Imam Hatip High School, now known as Tevfik İleri Imam Hatip High School, and that she had maintained ties with Kartal Anatolian Imam Hatip High School at different times. She wished the students continued success as young people equipped with morality, virtue, knowledge and wisdom.
Yılmaz: Being from Kartal is a privilege
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Coşkun Yılmaz said he was one of the former parents of students at Kartal Anatolian Imam Hatip High School. Yılmaz said sending his son to an imam hatip high school was one of the greatest services he had performed as a father, adding that it was an important gain for him that the friendships formed at the school had continued beyond the years of education.
