Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby will spotlight Uğurcan Çakır and Ederson
The performances of Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe goalkeepers Uğurcan Çakır and Ederson are expected to be decisive in the derby at RAMS Park on Monday, October 26. After eight league rounds, Galatasaray lead with 19 points, while Fenerbahçe are third with 16; Fenerbahçe have conceded 6 goals and Galatasaray 11.
Goalkeepers will be in the spotlight in the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby to be played on Monday, October 26, in the ninth week of the Trendyol Süper Lig. Galatasaray’s Turkey international goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır and Fenerbahçe’s Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson are expected to start in the match at RAMS Park.
After eight league matches, Galatasaray sit at the top with 19 points, while Fenerbahçe are third with 16 points. Galatasaray have conceded 11 goals in those matches, while Fenerbahçe have been unable to prevent their opponents from scoring 6 times.
Uğurcan Çakır kept clean sheets in three matches
Uğurcan Çakır has featured in 10 matches for Galatasaray in the Süper Lig and UEFA Champions League this season, keeping clean sheets in three of them. He played in seven of Galatasaray’s eight league matches but was removed from the squad at the last minute for the home match against Göztepe because of an injury.
Uğurcan Çakır kept opposing forwards from scoring in Galatasaray’s 4-0 win over Erzurumspor FK, their 1-0 victory against Kocaelispor and their 1-0 win over Gençlerbirliği. The experienced goalkeeper has conceded a total of 18 goals in the 10 Süper Lig and UEFA Champions League matches in which he has played.
Ederson has not conceded in his last four league matches
Ederson has played 12 matches for Fenerbahçe this season in the Süper Lig, the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds and the UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian goalkeeper has conceded 15 goals in those matches and kept clean sheets in five.
Ederson played in seven of Fenerbahçe’s eight league matches, conceding goals against Konyaspor and Beşiktaş. He did not allow Samsunspor, Gaziantep FK, Eyüpspor, Çaykur Rizespor or Corendon Alanyaspor to score. Ederson has therefore kept clean sheets in his last four league matches.
Uğurcan Çakır’s record against Fenerbahçe
Uğurcan Çakır has faced Fenerbahçe 17 times in his career. The goalkeeper wore the Trabzonspor shirt in 15 of those matches and the Galatasaray shirt in two, recording 7 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats.
Uğurcan Çakır conceded 27 goals in his 17 matches against Fenerbahçe and kept clean sheets in two of them.
Ederson will play in his fourth Galatasaray derby
Ederson, who joined Fenerbahçe at the start of last season, will play in his fourth derby against Galatasaray. With Ederson in goal, Fenerbahçe recorded 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat in their previous three Galatasaray derbies.
Fenerbahçe drew 1-1 with Galatasaray at home in the league and lost the away match 3-0. Ederson was sent off when the score was 1-0 in the match played at RAMS Park.
Fenerbahçe also beat Galatasaray 2-0 in the Turkcell Süper Kupa final in which Ederson played, winning the trophy.
