HAVELSAN and AOI signed a sales agreement at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt, taking their cooperation in unmanned and autonomous systems to a new stage.
The agreement follows the strategic cooperation agreement signed by the two organizations on August 26, 2025. That cooperation covers the joint production in Egypt of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles capable of vertical takeoff and landing.
HAMZA-1 program enters commercial phase
Developed under the cooperation, HAMZA-1 combines HAVELSAN's engineering expertise and technological capabilities in autonomous systems with AOI's local manufacturing capabilities in Egypt.
The technological expertise HAVELSAN has gained through its unmanned aerial vehicle platforms developed for different mission concepts, including BAHA, BOZBEY, POYRAZ and BULUT, is being combined with local manufacturing capabilities in Egypt through the HAMZA-1 program.
The first HAMZA-1 system developed under the program was unveiled at EDEX 2025, held in Cairo in December 2025.
With the sales agreement signed at the El Alamein International Airshow, HAMZA-1 became a commercial product following the joint production activities. The program has thus been transformed into an international initiative by combining HAVELSAN's autonomous systems technologies with AOI's local manufacturing infrastructure.
Under the agreement, HAMZA-1 systems are expected to be delivered to different users.
Türkiye-Egypt defense technology cooperation
The HAMZA-1 program highlights defense technology cooperation between Türkiye and Egypt, as well as HAVELSAN's approach to international joint production and localization.
