HAVELSAN’s BARKAN unmanned ground vehicle was used in amphibious assault and casualty evacuation missions during the Turkish Naval Forces’ TURNAs-2026 Unmanned Maritime Systems Exercise. Footage from the exercise showed BARKAN moving alongside troops disembarking from a landing ship and carrying wounded personnel.
The exercise began on October 21 in the Gulf of Antalya and the Eastern Mediterranean, with 18 ships, 11 aircraft, 9 unmanned aerial vehicles, 9 unmanned surface vessels and 7 unmanned underwater vehicles taking part. During the exercise, 41 systems developed by 17 defense industry companies are being tested alongside multipurpose amphibious ships, frigates, corvettes, fast attack craft, submarines and Coast Guard units.

Up to 8 hours of continuous operation
BARKAN can operate continuously for up to 8 hours in challenging terrain. The vehicle can provide fire support with an integrated 12.7-millimeter remotely controlled weapon system and can also be used for reconnaissance and surveillance, bomb disposal with a robotic arm, CBRN threat detection, load transportation and three-dimensional mapping.
Earlier this month, BARKAN also demonstrated its capabilities at the Ateş Serbest-2026 Exercise in Polatlı by hitting designated targets with its 12.7-millimeter weapon system.
