Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu inspected the ongoing construction of Trabzon City Hospital. Memişoğlu said the hospital will admit its first patient at the end of November.
Hospital features
Memişoğlu noted that the hospital, built on an area of approximately 265,000 square meters, uses seismic isolators. "We have created a physical structure capable of performing all treatments and using the world's most advanced technology devices," the minister said, adding that the hospital will serve not only the region but also foreign patients from Georgia to Iran.
Other hospitals relocating
Minister Memişoğlu announced that Trabzon's Bone Hospital and Chest Diseases Hospital will move to the new city hospital, while Kanuni Hospital will continue to serve as a training and research hospital in the eastern region, and the health services of Numune Hospital will also be transferred here. He noted that Fatih Hospital will be renovated and continue its services in the city center.
Emphasis on healthy living
Memişoğlu stated that Turkey's health infrastructure has become a global example over the past 25 years under the president's leadership, and that they will make the health industry a global model like the defense industry. Urging citizens to stay healthy, the minister called for avoiding smoking and alcohol and staying active. Pointing out that the Black Sea region is Turkey's most overweight region, Memişoğlu said, "Let's eat kuymak, let's eat rice pudding, but please let's move."
Minister Memişoğlu was accompanied on the visit by Governor Tahir Şahin, AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Şen and other officials.
