After the rainy weather over the weekend in Istanbul, temperatures have risen again at the start of the new week. Summer-like conditions will persist until midweek, but the weather will change noticeably starting Thursday.
No rain expected until midweek
According to the meteorological assessment by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Department, no precipitation is forecasted for the first three days of the week. The sky is expected to remain mostly clear with few clouds, and temperatures will rise above seasonal norms, ranging between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures are predicted to reach 29 degrees Celsius by Monday noon, 30 degrees on Tuesday, and up to 31 degrees on Wednesday. No rainfall is expected across the city during this period.
Cool air arriving from the Balkans
Starting Thursday, a wave of cool and rainy air coming from the Balkans is expected to affect Istanbul. With this transition, temperatures are forecasted to drop, with the highest value falling to 28 degrees Celsius.
The most significant change in weather is expected to be felt on Friday. Thunderstorms and heavy showers are predicted to become effective in the city once again.
Rainfall expected to increase on Friday and Saturday
On Friday, June 19, temperatures are expected to range between 18 and 27 degrees Celsius, with rainfall amounts between 2 and 5 kilograms per square meter. On Saturday, June 20, the rain is expected to intensify, temperatures will remain between 17 and 27 degrees Celsius, and rainfall amounts may rise to between 3 and 7 kilograms per square meter.
Authorities have urged citizens to be cautious and take precautions against the cooling and summer showers starting Thursday. The rainy weather is expected to lose its effect by Sunday, returning to partly cloudy and mostly clear conditions.
This brief weather change in Istanbul in the coming days highlights the need to be prepared, especially for sudden showers.
