The historic Gediz Bridge, which entered service in 1935 during the era of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, has reopened to vehicular traffic after extensive restoration and renovation. The work was conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the General Directorate of Highways, and Menemen Municipality.

Menemen Mayor Saygılı stated that the bridge, which underwent repairs after nearly 90 years, had been closed for two years and holds cultural site status. Saygılı said, "This valuable structure, one of the first public works of our Republic era, has become a fine example of both preserving our history and leaving a strong legacy from the past to the future with its renewed appearance."
Saygılı added that the bridge is once again serving the public.
