The first HÜRJET aircraft to be delivered to the Air Force, developed with national resources by Turkish Aerospace Industries under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries, completed its maiden flight on the 104th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The flight took place after work on the final assembly line was completed, ground and taxi tests were successfully conducted, and preparations were finalized. Accompanied by the first prototype, the HÜRJET in delivery configuration remained airborne for 18 minutes.
Görgün's message on HÜRJET
Presidency of Defense Industries President Haluk Görgün announced in a social media post after the flight that HÜRJET had successfully completed its maiden flight following ground and taxi tests.
In his post, Görgün thanked the Air Force, the TAI team, engineers, technicians and other stakeholders who contributed to the project. He also commemorated Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the heroes of the struggle for independence on the occasion of August 30 Victory Day.
Program launched in 2017
The HÜRJET program was launched in 2017. A critical stage of the project was completed with its maiden flight on April 25, 2023.
During flight tests conducted with two prototypes, HÜRJET reached supersonic speeds, demonstrating its supersonic flight capability. The aircraft attracted interest both domestically and on international platforms.
Production and testing continue
Following the flight tests, work on the serial production process accelerated. In addition to the prototypes used in flight and development tests under the program, production and testing activities are continuing as planned.
While testing and verification activities continue with two prototypes, production and assembly of the HÜRJET aircraft to be delivered to the Air Force are also being carried out simultaneously.
HÜRJET is being developed as a product of Turkish engineering, technical expertise and capabilities in the defense industry, with a modern design and high performance. The program is intended to contribute to Türkiye's goals of independence, continuity and global competitiveness in aviation.
