ROKETSAN aims to develop indigenous guided munitions to enhance the capabilities of domestically produced platforms and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers in the defense sector.
ROKETSAN Chief Executive Murat İkinci discussed the company’s latest work during the ongoing TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland maritime defense fair.
Maritime defense systems on display
The four-day event showcases Türkiye’s maritime capabilities, underwater technologies and defense industry products. Alongside platforms from different classes operated by the Turkish Naval Forces, the fair also features unmanned systems, aircraft, air defense systems and missile systems.
The event also includes competitions for aspiring young engineers.
Atmaca and Akya integrations
İkinci said the indigenous Atmaca anti-ship missile had been integrated into frigates and other domestically produced corvettes. He said the integration had eliminated the need for foreign suppliers in the relevant area.
İkinci said ROKETSAN’s heavy-class Akya torpedo had also given the Turkish submarine fleet strike capability without the need for foreign suppliers. He added that integrating the Akata system into submarines enables those platforms to launch Atmaca cruise missiles.
MIDLAS integration completed
İkinci announced that the integration of the Siper and Hisar missiles into the indigenous MIDLAS vertical launching system had been completed.
İkinci said testing and trials were continuing for the Levent close-range air defense missile system. He said they expected the system to achieve strong export success, particularly in the Gulf region, referring to the Iran-Israel war.
Guided munitions for unmanned surface vessels
İkinci said integrating guided missiles into armored unmanned surface vessels was important for enhancing their capabilities. He said the Cirit, Sungur, Çakır and L-UMTAS missiles served as force multipliers for the Turkish Naval Forces.
İkinci said the ongoing work would not only reduce Türkiye’s dependence on foreign suppliers but also create an alternative source of supply for allied countries.
