HAVELSAN is continuing its work in the field of autonomous unmanned surface vehicles with a new R&D project. The company will unveil its underwater project, named AVISTA, for the first time at TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan.
AVISTA aims to develop precise positioning, three-dimensional underwater mapping, ship hull inspection, protection of critical underwater structures and integrated security capabilities using domestic resources in underwater environments without GNSS access.
Developed with cost-effective sensors
The project was designed with the high costs of underwater sensors and customs restrictions in procurement processes in mind. HAVELSAN aims to develop algorithms that equip platforms with advanced capabilities using cost-effective and easily accessible sensors.
The capabilities to be developed under AVISTA will also form the infrastructure to be used directly in HAVELSAN's ÇAKA Diving-Capable Hybrid Unmanned Surface Vehicle project.
Can be integrated into different underwater vehicles
HAVELSAN is using a six-degrees-of-freedom remotely operated underwater vehicle as a development and testing platform. Since AVISTA was developed with platform-independent algorithms and a software architecture, it can be integrated into different underwater vehicles in the future.
The project is also intended to gain the capability to operate together with the ADVENT Combat Management System. AVISTA is planned to have integrated underwater positioning, underwater mapping, ship hull inspection and navigation corridor creation capabilities.

Could be used in civilian and public security fields
The project, which is still at the R&D stage, could be used in civilian and public security fields such as underwater search and rescue operations, forensic case investigations, underwater inspections of infrastructure and energy facilities, and port and facility security.
Sea trials for AVISTA are planned to begin soon. The capabilities developed through the project are expected to contribute at different levels to the planned anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, mine warfare and seabed warfare capabilities of the ADVENT MÜREN Combat Management System.
HAVELSAN aims to make its new products and solutions in the field of underwater technologies ready for use in 2027.
Workshop to be held for children
HAVELSAN will also organize a workshop on unmanned surface vehicles for children as part of TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan. Participants will explore the features of the SANCAR USV and AVISTA USV and experience the maneuverability of unmanned surface vehicle models through a competition.
At the event, HAVELSAN's existing and new underwater capabilities will also be presented to the command staff and relevant personnel of the Turkish Naval Forces Command.
