Interior Minister Çiftçi Says Turkey Is Experiencing Its Strongest Period in 200 Years
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated at a ceremony in Çorum that Turkey is going through its strongest period in the last 200 years. Çiftçi expressed his belief that under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's leadership, the country will transform from a regional power into a global power.

Çiftçi noted that in 2022, they established the Stray Animals Union in Çorum. While many provinces in Turkey had not yet prepared such initiatives, Çorum Municipality, the Provincial Special Administration, district municipalities, and two town municipalities came together to collect and sterilize stray animals, making Çorum one of the earliest provinces to start these efforts.
Following the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş in 2023, Çiftçi said they became sister cities with the Afşin district. "Thanks to the support of our Governorship, Special Administration, municipalities, NGOs, and the people of Çorum, we helped heal the wounds of the disaster there. Afşin Municipality named a street 'Çorum.' Our Mayor of Çorum and I were awarded honorary citizenship certificates.
This was entirely thanks to the generosity of the people of Çorum," he said. Recalling that his governorship ended about four months ago, Çiftçi continued:
"By the approval of our President, I was appointed as Interior Minister, but Çorum is my first love. Since I consider it as two governorships, I want to come and renew our bond whenever I have the chance. I have inspected all districts of Çorum and instructed that deficiencies in government buildings be addressed. We will carry out the same work for police and gendarmerie buildings.
With Çorumspor's promotion to the Super League, we will also increase the number of police personnel. We are determined to fight drugs both in Çorum and across Turkey; we will not leave our youth at the mercy of drug dealers."
Çiftçi said, "Turkey is experiencing its strongest period in 200 years. Under the leadership of our President, I have full confidence that our country will become even stronger and transform from a regional power into a global power. I witness firsthand how tirelessly we carry the burden of oppressed regions day and night." After the speeches at the ceremony, Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın presented Çiftçi with the honorary citizenship certificate of Çorum.
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, speaking at the AK Party Çorum Provincial Presidency Advisory Meeting held in the conference hall of the Çorum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that for decades they had awaited a hero, and that hero is President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who revived the noble Turkish nation and broke the chains of Hagia Sophia.
Çiftçi said President Erdoğan is the prayer of mothers waiting tearfully at the gates of barracks, the leader who united the nation and state in one spirit, ended tutelage, and taught the Turkish nation to think big again.
Pointing out that the AK Party has transformed the Turkish nation's labor, sweat, budget, and energy into works and services for 24 years, Çiftçi said, "Roads, hospitals, dams, schools, airports, tunnels, bridges, factories, and many other services have been carried out with the understanding that serving the people is serving God.
More importantly than these works, we have restored self-confidence to this nation and set great goals for Turkey again. Now, Turkey produces its own UAVs, builds its own warships, and sends its own satellites into space. Turkey is a country whose voice is heard regionally and globally, that responds to the voices of the oppressed, and offers hope. This is what we call the Century of Turkey.
The leader of this vision is our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The carriers of this march are the AK Party organizations. Your efforts and sacrifices keep this struggle alive." Çiftçi emphasized that Turkey has made great progress and added:
"Our journey is still long, and God willing, we will see the Red Apple in the skies. Just as we have witnessed the freedom of Damascus, Aleppo, and Karabakh, we will, God willing, one day see the freedom of Jerusalem. When I was a governor, I had a prayer to God. After serving five years here, I was appointed to Erzurum, where I served for 2.5 years. My prayer was this: May God grant me the governorship of Jerusalem, even if only for one day.
I believe God will show us those days; He will definitely show them. I have believed this with all my heart and continue to believe. As in the past, those lands will be ours again. They will come under our government's control again, God willing. Because we have a global leader like Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the helm. We have a wonderful leader."
