Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Begaie held the US responsible for the consequences of escalating tensions in the region. Speaking at a weekly press conference, Begaie claimed that Israel does not take any steps without coordination with the US.
Begaie stated that Washington's role in Israel's attacks on Lebanon cannot be ignored. He also asserted that Iran has information indicating coordination between the US and Israel in both offensive and defensive operations.
Accusations Against Washington
The Iranian spokesman noted that some circles suggest Israel may not always follow Washington's instructions, but despite this, the US's responsibility is clear. According to Begaie, Washington, especially as a party involved in ceasefire arrangements, should be held directly accountable for developments in the region.
Begaie said, "Whether directly by the US or through the Israeli regime in Lebanon, every step in the region fully implicates Washington." He argued that if tensions escalate, the consequences will also rest on the US.
Diplomacy and Developments on the Ground
Begaie said that ongoing diplomatic contacts amid the recent Israeli attacks are taking place in an atmosphere of deep mistrust. The spokesman noted that Iran exchanges messages with the US under conditions of "intense suspicion," and Washington's contradictory stances and confusing statements weaken diplomatic efforts.
The Iranian official said recent developments over the past 24 hours have further worsened the situation. He emphasized that Iran will continue to act in line with its national interests and security needs and will not allow Israel and the US to dismiss violations with mere general statements.
Military Preparedness Message from Tehran
Begaie stated that the Iranian leadership and society are prepared for every scenario. He added that the armed forces will be mobilized if deemed necessary.
The spokesman warned that the diplomatic channel aimed at ending the US-Israel war could be harmed if it is sidelined. He stressed that Iran pursues diplomacy and actions on the ground simultaneously to protect the country's interests.
Current Situation of Regional Tensions
The statements came after Israel's attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut and allegations of violations of the April 8 ceasefire agreement. In response, Iran launched a series of missile strikes on Israeli military targets.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps announced it first targeted the Ramat David airbase with ballistic missiles. The statement said this base was the source of attacks on Lebanon and actions that caused displacement of civilians in southern Lebanon and the Dahiyeh area of Beirut.
Subsequently, the Nasr Operation was announced against the Tel Nof and Nevatim airbases. Iran stated this attack was a response to Israel's missile strikes on radar sites inside Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also described the attacks as legitimate self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The ministry warned that as long as Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon and ongoing violations, a broader and harsher response will be given.
