Istanbul police departments conducted two separate operations to apprehend 24 suspects as part of work coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
19 suspects detained
In the first operation, investigators examined profiling lists concerning individuals considered linked to FETÖ in recruitment processes for court clerks, prison guards and bailiffs in previous years.
Police teams identified public officials assessed by the organization as having a high affiliation code, as well as ByLock users, and conducted simultaneous operations at designated addresses to apprehend 19 suspects, one of whom was an active public official. All 19 suspects were detained in the operation.

Numerous digital materials were seized during searches at the addresses. The suspects were taken to the police headquarters for processing.
Operation targeting safe houses
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department’s Counterterrorism Branch also carried out work aimed at uncovering FETÖ’s activities, with support from the Intelligence Branch.
Investigators determined that the organization provided “gaybubet” houses, which it called “safe houses,” for fugitive suspects seeking to avoid capture and maintain their lives in secrecy, and provided them with financial support.

It was determined that three suspects considered part of the organization’s current structure organized the gaybubet houses. They were found to have played roles in covering the houses’ rent, dues, food and clothing expenses, bringing the suspects to Istanbul, placing them in the houses and taking them abroad through illegal means.
As the operation continued, investigators determined that two suspects with finalized prison sentences and arrest warrants for membership in the armed terrorist organization FETÖ/PDY had been placed in a gaybubet house in Üsküdar.
Five suspects were detained in an operation at the designated addresses. Searches uncovered foreign currency worth 3.17 million Turkish liras and numerous digital materials.
The suspects detained in this operation were also taken to the police headquarters for processing.
