The 4th International Digital Film Festival, held under the theme “Human-Centered Digital Transformation, Creativity and Shared Responsibility in Cinema,” has begun in Istanbul. Films by directors from different countries around the world are being screened free of charge at the festival.
Centered this year on the question “Is a Common Future Possible?”, the festival explores the impact of digital transformation on cinema from ethical, aesthetic and creative perspectives.
Competition in six categories
Speaking at the opening program, Festival Founding President İlknur Doruker said they view technology not merely as a development that provides new production tools, but also as an element that expands human imagination and broadens narrative possibilities.
Doruker said the festival, which received entries from 27 countries, was the first film festival in Türkiye to open a separate competition category for artificial intelligence-assisted films in 2024. This year, 18 finalist films and seven “Official Selection” films are being screened in the fiction, animation, documentary, experimental, fashion film and artificial intelligence-assisted film categories.
Talks and workshops accompanying the international selection address cinema’s digital transformation, storytelling, creative production and the changing audience experience.
Screenings continue at three venues
The festival began at AKM Yeşilçam Cinema with screenings under the themes “Transforming Narratives” and “Humans, the World and the Future.” The program will continue with free film screenings, workshops and themed talks at Müze Gazhane on October 17–18 and at Özyeğin University on October 19.

The festival awards will be presented at the “Closing and Awards Ceremony” to be held at Fişekhane Main Stage on October 20.
