Kılıçdaroğlu Confirms 755 Million Lira Paid to Social Media Trolls During Özel's Tenure
Former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu stated in a television interview that 755 million lira was paid to social media trolls and 'fondaş' media during Özgür Özel's chairmanship. Kılıçdaroğlu claimed he is feared because he would clean up corruption in the party and made serious accusations against certain individuals.
Former Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made striking claims about the party's internal affairs during a television program.
Kılıçdaroğlu confirmed that 755 million lira was paid to social media trolls and 'fondaş' media during Özgür Özel's tenure as chairman.
"They fear me because I will carry out the purification"
Kılıçdaroğlu said, "They fear me because I will carry out the purification. This party cannot accept filth."
He recounted that immediately after the 38th Ordinary Congress, he explained some internal party problems to Özgür Özel and warned against nominating four mayors who were reportedly problematic.
Reaction to demanding money from municipalities
Emphasizing that a party cannot ask for money from a municipality, Kılıçdaroğlu argued that this is tantamount to saying "Go take a bribe." He stated that money from the Treasury and money taken from a municipality are not the same thing.
Kılıçdaroğlu suggested that the media has not asked Özel sufficiently tough questions on these matters.
Bribery allegations and failure to file lawsuits
Questioning why a lawsuit was not filed regarding allegations that a deputy chairman took bribes, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "If he cannot file a lawsuit, should I treat this man as a treasure?"
He stated that people who are slandered are obliged to file lawsuits, but they have not done so, claiming this implies an admission.
Congress and emphasis on national security
Kılıçdaroğlu said that if allegations that a congress was bought with money are true, then it is a national security issue. He stated that this is the reason behind his call for moral purification.
