Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev made remarks at a joint press conference following his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara.
Describing the talks held as part of the 7th Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group Meeting as "productive and comprehensive," Kulubaev said, "Our discussions took place in an atmosphere of full mutual understanding, openness, and trust. This clearly demonstrates the shared will of the two countries to further strengthen and develop cooperation."
The minister stated that the meeting comprehensively reviewed the current state of bilateral relations, discussed concrete steps to deepen cooperation, and addressed in detail the preparations for mutual visits. He noted that the visits of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Kyrgyzstan are on the agenda.
Noting that cooperation in trade, economy and investment is among the priority topics, Kulubaev said the parties once again reaffirmed their commitment to providing strong political support for investment initiatives aligned with mutual interests and creating favorable conditions for the implementation of joint projects.
Emphasizing that they attach special importance to cooperation in culture, humanitarian aid and education, Kulubaev said they exchanged views on improving the living, working and studying conditions of citizens and further facilitating mutual visits between the two brotherly nations.
Stating that they always support Türkiye's reforms and mediation efforts, Kulubaev said, "The Republic of Türkiye plays the most important role in establishing peace and resolving crises in the region." He conveyed his wishes for success to President Erdoğan and Minister Fidan in these efforts.
Touching on regional transport projects, the minister said the Middle Corridor is one of the most important routes for them. Kulubaev stated that they aim to connect to this corridor with the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line, and through this line, with Türkiye's assistance, they aim to reach the markets of European and Arab countries.
Kulubaev said one concrete outcome of the meeting was that the issue of Kyrgyzstan's temporary membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2027-2028 term was discussed at the level of foreign ministries, and he thanked Türkiye for its contribution to this diplomatic achievement. "As a UNSC member, Kyrgyzstan aims to be a constructive country that can bridge different views and interests," he stated.
Noting that global and regional security issues were also discussed in detail, Kulubaev said they agreed that conflicts in the world should be resolved through peace, dialogue and diplomacy, and that they agreed on resolving problems through diplomatic means in accordance with international law norms.
Touching on Kyrgyzstan's priorities in the UNSC, Kulubaev noted they will prioritize stronger advocacy for the interests of mountainous countries, landlocked developing countries and small island states. In this context, he said they are ready for close cooperation with Africa, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean. He added that Kyrgyzstan is ready to share its experience in peaceful resolution of border issues and strengthening mutual trust through diplomatic means with the international community.
Kulubaev thanked Hakan Fidan for his hospitality and invited him to make an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
