US rapper Macklemore met Gazan children during the Paris leg of his “Free Palestine” tour in Europe. Before the concert held at Accor Arena on October 29, Macklemore met four children and young people supported by the humanitarian organization HEAL Palestine, some of whom were injured in the war.
Footage released by the organization shows Macklemore talking with the children and accompanying a girl who was walking on crutches.
“Free Marwan” message on the final night
At the tour’s final concert, held on October 30 at OVO Arena Wembley in London, Macklemore wore a shirt reading “Free Marwan” in solidarity with Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti, who is held in an Israeli prison.
Barghouti, a leading figure in Fatah, has been held in an Israeli prison since 2002 and was sentenced to five life terms in 2004.

UN rapporteur also appeared on stage
Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian territories, also took the stage at the London concert and spoke about the resilience of the Palestinian people. Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to London, gave Macklemore a gift made from an olive tree containing Palestinian soil.
Tickets for the three concerts in Dublin, Paris and London sold out. The tour’s proceeds are being donated to 12 organizations, including Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
Macklemore was removed from the lineup of opening acts for Ed Sheeran’s US tour in September because of his calls in support of Palestine. A painting thanking the rapper was also made on a wall in Gaza.
