Under the coordination of the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the teams of the Public Order Branch Fraud Bureau of the Provincial Police Department conducted an operation against a criminal organization committing fraud after approximately 4 months of technical and physical surveillance. It was determined that the suspects sent text messages to citizens promising interest-free loans by introducing themselves as police, prosecutors, and bank officials and took over bank accounts. Additionally, it was found that they demanded money from citizens under the pretext of fake gold exchange and claims of an impending operation. The money was collected with the threat that damage would occur if it was not sent to the specified bank accounts and was transferred to crypto accounts to cover their tracks. In a simultaneous dawn operation conducted with the participation of 25 teams and 81 personnel in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Manisa, Samsun, Sakarya, Batman, Sivas, Karaman, Adana, Bursa, and Kırklareli, centered in Erzurum, 23 suspects were caught. Many mobile phones, computers, identity cards, ID cards, SIM cards, and bank cards used in the fraud were seized during the searches. The investigation revealed that the suspects defrauded 25 people of approximately 19 million lira, and there was about 600 million lira movement in their accounts. After health checks, the suspects were referred to the courthouse; 14 were arrested while 9 were released under judicial control conditions.
