Meryem Uzerli, known for playing Hürrem Sultan in the Turkish series Magnificent Century, noticed the show’s music and dialogue coming from the room next to hers at a hotel. Filming the moment on her phone, she said: “I don’t know if you can hear it, but my neighbor is watching Magnificent Century.”

She then knocked on the door and greeted the woman who opened it: “Hello, I noticed you are watching Magnificent Century.” The guest was stunned to find the show’s Hürrem Sultan standing in front of her.

The video, which Uzerli posted on September 26, quickly drew wide attention. Magnificent Century, which began airing in 2011, earned the actress a large fan base in Türkiye and abroad.
