Italy's Serie A side Milan have officially announced the transfer of Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos. The red-and-blacks signed the 25-year-old forward from Paris Saint-Germain on a contract until 2031.
"AC Milan announces today that Gonçalo Matias Ramos has been transferred from Paris Saint-Germain. The Portuguese forward has signed a contract with the club until June 30, 2031," the club said in a statement on its website.
Ramos' career journey
Ramos transferred from Benfica to PSG in the summer of 2023 for a fee of 65 million euros. The Portuguese player made 131 appearances in all competitions over three seasons in France, scoring 45 goals and providing 10 assists.
Anadolu Agency reported that Ramos won 3 Ligue 1 titles, 2 French Cups, 3 Trophée des Champions with Paris Saint-Germain, as well as 2 UEFA Champions League, 1 UEFA Super Cup and 1 Intercontinental Cup triumph.
Record transfer fee
Italian media reported that Milan paid a fixed fee of 74 million euros to PSG for this transfer, with the total amount potentially reaching 90 million euros including bonuses.
This fee goes down as the highest ever paid by an Italian club for a forward. Inter Milan made a similar expenditure in 2020 when they transferred Belgian Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United for 74 million euros.
Milan finished 5th in Serie A last season and missed out on Champions League qualification. The club had long been in search of a striker to make them competitive both in the league and in Europe.
