Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum attended the Title Deed Distribution Ceremony organized by Beykoz Municipality. The ceremony was also attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Abdullah Özdemir, General Director of Land Registry and Cadastre Hakan Gedikli, and many citizens.
"We have completed the first phase of our 300,000-square-meter Beykoz Nation's Garden," said Minister Kurum at the ceremony. "We have finalized the transfer of properties in 25 neighborhoods under the 2/B law within our Ministry's jurisdiction to Beykoz Municipality. We are delivering title deeds to 1,071 beneficiaries, reuniting them with a right they have awaited for years. This decision is a significant step that will completely change the lives of our brothers and sisters in Beykoz who have been living in uncertainty for some time. We have provided approximately 2,500 Beykoz residents with solid and safe housing. We have reunited our citizens in that once-risky area with safe, sturdy, and modern homes. We have completed the first phase of our 300,000-square-meter Beykoz Nation's Garden. We are continuing our work on the other phases without interruption."
"In cooperation with our Ministry of Youth and Sports, we are renovating Paşabahçe Stadium. By integrating the area with the sea, we are creating a living space in Beykoz where our children can run and play, and our mothers can sit safely. We will start construction immediately and, God willing, deliver the project next year."
Istanbul's Real Agenda is the Earthquake
"Istanbul's real agenda is the earthquake. We cannot avoid facing this reality, we cannot postpone it. We do not have a single day to lose on this matter. Preparing Istanbul for an earthquake is a matter of survival for this country, a matter of existence," he said.
Urban Transformation Efforts
"We are resolutely continuing our urban transformation campaign that we launched in 2012. Currently, we are carrying out one out of every two urban transformation projects in Istanbul. We are not leaving any district behind, from Üsküdar to Esenler, from Kartal to Beyoğlu. Through the 'Half from Us' campaign, we provide grants, loans, and relocation support to our citizens. Under the Climate and Disaster Resilient Cities Project, we offer loans of up to 3 million lira with no payments in the first year. My expectation from all Istanbul residents is that they take advantage of these opportunities," he said.
Social Housing Projects
"Over the past 24 years, we have provided safe living spaces for approximately 7 million citizens with the 1,766,000 social housing units we have built. Today, with the largest social housing initiative in the history of the Republic, we are adding 115,000 more social housing units to Istanbul. We are planning 15,000 of these as rental social housing. We will start delivering the rental units in September. Starting from March 2027, we will begin delivering social housing in all 81 provinces. After the 'Solidarity of the Century,' we launched the 'Construction of the Century.' We have reached an unprecedented speed, producing 23 housing units per hour. Under the leadership of our President, we completed and delivered 455,000 housing units and workplaces to their rightful owners in just two years," he said.
Deposit Management System
"The Zero Waste Movement, carried out under the auspices of the esteemed First Lady Emine Erdoğan, has now become a globally recognized success story. With the Deposit Management System we implemented nationwide as of July 1, we are taking this success even further. You deposit bottles into our DOA machines and earn 1 lira per bottle. Then we collect those bottles, recycle them, and reintegrate them into the economy. In just five days, we collected 7,600,000 packages. God willing, when this system is fully established, this number will reach 25 billion packages annually, and we will contribute 30 billion lira to our economy each year," he said. (DHA)
