Erkan Taş won the başpehlivan title at the 665th Historic Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling by defeating Feyzullah Aktürk in the final. In the başpehlivan final match of the event at Sarayiçi Er Meydanı, Feyzullah Aktürk, who had beaten Mustafa Batu, Yıldıray Pala, Orhan Okulu, and Mustafa Taş in earlier rounds, faced Erkan Taş, who had eliminated İsmail Balaban, Mehmet Yeşil Yeşil, Ali Gürbüz, and Seçkin Duman.
After the salavat by başcazgır Emin Ger, the wrestlers took to the field for the peşrev. Feyzullah Aktürk, a 27-year-old from Akhisar, Manisa, known as the 'hard rock' of the wrestling arenas, had been başpehlivan this year at the Yuntdağı, Sekapark, Kestel, Vezirköprü, Çardak, Kula, Manavgat, Çağlak, and Karadilli wrestling events. Erkan Taş, a 26-year-old from Sinop, nicknamed 'iron chickpea', was the başpehlivan this season at the Dikmen, Ödemiş, Osmancık, Edremit, and Çalı wrestling events.
The crowd greeted the başpehlivans with applause. The match between Feyzullah Aktürk and Erkan Taş began under the supervision of Olgay İnce, a referee from the Kocaeli region. The wrestling started actively with mutual attacks. Hard holds occasionally led to an aggressive contest. Until the 15th minute, Erkan Taş appeared more dominant.
Although he fended off two critical moves from his opponent during this period, the tower referee warned Feyzullah to wrestle more actively. In the 20th minute, Erkan Taş's counter led to ground wrestling. Feyzullah continued the match defensively against Erkan Taş's paça-kazık attempts. Referee Olgay İnce called the wrestlers to stand up, citing that the match had been on the ground for too long.
No result was achieved in the 30-minute regular period, during which Erkan Taş was more active and Feyzullah adopted a defensive strategy. The match went to the scoring section, where the first to score would win. Feyzullah Aktürk, starting the scoring period under warning pressure, displayed more active wrestling. In the 35th, 41st, and 45th minutes, Feyzullah Aktürk's counter dives excited the crowd, but these attacks yielded no result.
In the 49th minute, Feyzullah Aktürk attempted a single-leg takedown to bring Erkan Taş down, but Taş escaped the move, scored a point against his opponent, and won the match. With this result, Erkan Taş became the başpehlivan of the 665th Historic Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling.
After his championship, golden belt holder Erkan Taş said, 'I thank everyone very much. Praise be to my God. From now on, we will come to this arena to win the golden belt.'
