Speaking at the opening of the Erzurum facility of the Central Union of Turkish Red Meat Producers, Minister Yumaklı announced new support measures for livestock breeders. Yumaklı said breeders would not be charged for vaccination and animal identification, and that veterinarians would not request additional fees for these procedures.
Recalling September 19 Veterans' Day, Yumaklı commemorated those who lost their lives for their country, foremost among them Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic. Yumaklı wished mercy for veterans who had died and health and long lives for those still living.
Livestock support reaches 654 billion lira
Yumaklı said livestock farming was important for families' livelihoods, enabling young people to build a future in their hometowns and ensuring that women's labor was valued. He said the sector guaranteed the food reaching the country's tables.
Yumaklı announced that livestock-related support had reached 654 billion lira over the past 24 years. He said the support aimed not only to increase animal numbers and production but also to establish a more efficient, higher-quality, sustainable and lower-cost production structure.
Yumaklı said that, under the Livestock Roadmap announced in February 2024, a three-year production planning and support model had been implemented for the first time. He said the aim was to give producers greater visibility into the future and provide more support to young people and entrepreneurial women.

Six billion lira allocated for vaccination and identification
Yumaklı announced that a new support item had been created under the animal and herd health support program and said breeders would not be charged for vaccination and identification. He said no deductions would be made from other support payments for these procedures and that veterinarians would not request separate fees.
Yumaklı said approximately 6 billion lira had been allocated for vaccination and identification support. He said the measure was intended to reduce the financial burden on breeders.
Yumaklı said the success of livestock farming could not be measured solely by the number of animals and emphasized that a healthy animal population was a fundamental condition for the sector. He said five veterinary road inspection points had been established, beginning in Erzurum, and that the number would be increased to eight. Yumaklı also announced that the fight against last year's foot-and-mouth disease had been completed within four months.
Additional support for Erzurum in four areas
Yumaklı said Erzurum ranked third in Türkiye in terms of its cattle population and that the province had important advantages in feed-crop production, extensive pastures and water resources.

Yumaklı said they were providing preferential support to breeders in the 16 provinces included in livestock production planning. He announced that breeders engaged in beef and dairy cattle farming in Erzurum would receive additional support in four areas:
- Calf support was increased by 50%.
- An additional 20% discount was provided on top of the interest reduction applied to Ziraat Bank's agricultural loans.
- Raw milk support was increased by 40%.
- Feed-crop support was increased by 50%.
The facility's herd of 1,500 animals will be distributed to breeders
Yumaklı said the newly opened facility would be an important center for producers seeking to expand their herds and that high-quality breeding stock would be made more widely available there. He said the facility had approximately 1,500 animals, most of them Angus and the remainder Hereford, and announced that the animals were planned to be distributed to eligible breeders under the Rural Abundance, Support for Livestock Project.
Yumaklı said Erzurum had the potential to meet the region's roughage needs and noted that irrigation investments in the province were continuing. He said the tender for the Kuzgun-Daphane-Elmalı Tunnel would be held in November, the tender for the Kuzgun-Daphane-Orta Bahçe Irrigation project in December, and the tenders for the Narman Martyrs Dam Irrigation and Çipak Regulator Irrigation projects in March.
Barley sales begin
Yumaklı announced that barley from the stocks of the Turkish Grain Board had begun to be sold as of September 17. He said the initial sales would target cattle and sheep fatteners, breeders and feed factories.

Yumaklı also said that 2 million decares of pastureland in Türkiye would be rehabilitated and made available to producers by 2028.
Erzurum plans a region with capacity for 25,000 cattle
Yumaklı said they wanted to establish a livestock fattening organized agricultural zone with capacity for 25,000 cattle in Erzurum's Aziziye district. He said the project aimed to turn the province into a regional center for livestock farming and red meat production.
Yumaklı said the facility of the Central Union of Turkish Red Meat Producers would generate 9,000 tons of red meat and provide employment for 1,500 people once it became operational. He said the facility would contribute 3 billion lira to the national economy.
After his speech, Yumaklı delivered breeding pregnant heifers to farmers for breeders who will be eligible under the Rural Abundance, Support for Livestock Project. He later bought a calf from the auction hall and met with farmers.
