The Ministry of Youth and Sports has launched a new digital guidance platform that seeks to answer the question "Which profession suits me?" for young people. Developed by the General Directorate of Education, Research and Coordination, the e-Guidance System offers scientific tests and personalized recommendations to individuals aged 15-29.
Five different assessment tools
The system includes five separate inventories: personality, interests, aptitude, occupational values, and vocational skills. Each of these tools, which have completed scientific validity and reliability studies, allows young people to get to know themselves better. Rather than directly recommending a profession, the platform creates a comprehensive profile of the areas in which a person may be more successful and happy, and then provides suggestions for skills that need development.
AI-powered adaptive test
Assessments are conducted using the Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) method. Questions change instantly based on each response, and a personalized test is created from a pool of thousands of questions. This allows young people to obtain reliable results within minutes by answering approximately 20-25 questions.
Early warning and employment risk monitoring
The platform not only provides career guidance but also aims to identify potential unemployment risks in advance by evaluating young people's employment opportunities in their fields of study together with their socioeconomic situations. Thanks to this early warning mechanism, at-risk youth will be directed to training programs suited to their needs.
Talent map of 81 provinces to be created
The ministry plans to create maps of interests, talents, values, and skills across Turkey using data obtained from the system. These maps will be used to plan educational investments according to regional needs and to better match the qualifications sought by the business world with the potential of young people.
Integration from youth camps to online education
Young people using the e-Guidance System are directed to free face-to-face and distance education programs offered by public institutions, primarily the Ministry of Youth and Sports' Education Experience Application Platform. Approximately 1 million students staying in ministry dormitories also continue to be offered vocational and cultural courses outside the curriculum.
Free for everyone, a service worth 10 thousand lira
While similar assessment tests in the private sector cost between 2 and 3 thousand lira each, the e-Guidance System will be provided free of charge to all young people. The public sector will cover a service worth approximately 10 thousand lira per user. With an annual target of 1 million users, the system is expected to generate around 10 billion lira in social value per year.
International expansion goal
Following three years of scientific work and the participation of approximately 50 thousand young people, the system will be adapted for the Turkic Republics of Central Asia in later stages. In the medium term, it is aimed to be translated into different languages, primarily Arabic and English, and used internationally. It is also planned to connect talented young people abroad with programs such as Türkiye Scholarships.
