Beşiktaş faced Kocaelispor at Tüpraş Stadium in the seventh week of the Trendyol Süper Lig. The Black Eagles won the match 2-1 with goals from Orkun Kökçü and Dusan Vlahovic to claim all three points.
Beşiktaş started the match quickly. In the 10th minute, goalkeeper Serhat Öztaşdelen blocked Trossard's shot with his feet after Trossard entered the penalty area following Djalo's through ball.
The home side took the lead in the 18th minute. Cerny received the ball on the right wing after Murillo's pass behind the defense and cut it back to the edge of the penalty area. Orkun Kökçü's first-time low shot found the far corner of the net.
Kocaelispor came close to equalizing in the 20th minute when Sissoho shot from outside the penalty area. The ball came back into play off the post and Beşiktaş's defense cleared the danger. Two minutes later, Sissoho's powerful effort struck goalkeeper Nübel in the face and went out for a corner.
The visitors equalized in the 27th minute. Nübel attempted to punch away Uğur Kaan Yıldız's corner, but the ball bounced off Agyei's back and remained loose. Show found it in front of him inside the six-yard box and finished to make it 1-1.
Beşiktaş were awarded a penalty in the 29th minute. Djalo went down in a challenge with Tayfur Bingöl during Cerny's corner, and referee Abdullah Buğra Taşkınsoy pointed to the penalty spot. Vlahovic took the penalty in the 31st minute and sent the ball into the right corner to put his team back in front.
Two efforts came back off the posts in the second half
Kocaelispor started the second half strongly. In the 48th minute, Metehan Altunbaş attempted to finish after Nübel's intervention left the ball loose, but his shot went over the crossbar after striking the top of it.
Kocaelispor goalkeeper Serhat Öztaşdelen also tipped İlhan Fakılı's powerful shot over the bar for a corner in the 51st minute after İlhan Fakılı reached the ball following Miretti's pass. A minute later, İlhan Fakılı's effort from the edge of the penalty area came back off the post. Öztaşdelen denied Trossard twice in succession as he attempted to finish the rebound.
There were no further goals, and Beşiktaş defeated Kocaelispor 2-1.
With the result, Beşiktaş moved into second place with 15 points, one point behind leaders Galatasaray. The Black Eagles returned to winning ways after losing to Amed Sportif Faaliyetler last week. Kocaelispor, who suffered their third defeat of the season, remained on 12 points and finished the week in seventh place.
In the other matches played in the same week of the Süper Lig, Arca Çorum FK defeated Gaziantep FK 3-0 away from home. The match between Konyaspor and Başakşehir ended in a goalless draw.
Orkun Kökçü scores his second league goal
Orkun Kökçü, who scored Beşiktaş's first goal, netted his second goal in the Süper Lig. After scoring his first league goal against Amed Sportif Faaliyetler, Orkun has reached five goals in all competitions this season.
Orkun Kökçü has also scored twice against Midtjylland and once against Kauno Zalgiris in European matches.
Vlahovic scores in fourth consecutive match
Beşiktaş's Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic extended his league scoring streak with his penalty against Kocaelispor. Having scored in each of his last four league matches, Vlahovic has taken his total to six goals.
Vlahovic scored his first league goals with a hat-trick against Çorum FK, before also finding the net against Fenerbahçe and Amed Sportif Faaliyetler.
Beşiktaş remain unbeaten at home
Beşiktaş continued their winning run in every match they have played at Dolmabahçe this season. The Black Eagles have defeated Eyüpspor, Arca Çorum FK, Erzurumspor FK and Kocaelispor at home in the league, as well as Midtjylland, Hradec Kralove, Kauno Zalgiris and Olympique de Marseille in Europe.
Beşiktaş have won all eight of their home matches in the league and Europe this season, scoring 21 goals and conceding four.
With their victory over Kocaelispor, Beşiktaş also maintained their dominance in their last 13 league meetings with the opponent. The Black Eagles have won 12 of those matches, while one ended in a draw. Kocaelispor's last victory over Beşiktaş came in the 1998-99 season, when they won 3-0 in Istanbul.
Cerny substituted due to injury
Beşiktaş's Czech footballer Vaclav Cerny went down in the opposition half in the 38th minute. After receiving treatment from the medical team, Cerny was unable to continue and was replaced by İlhan Fakılı in the 39th minute.
Italiano and İnan assess refereeing
Beşiktaş head coach Vincenzo Italiano criticized the refereeing decisions in his post-match comments. Italiano said he found the incidents he said had occurred in two matches unacceptable and expressed surprise that challenges he described as punches had gone unpunished.
The Italian coach said matches played after international breaks were difficult and that his players had secured an important victory despite joining the team on Friday. Italiano said they had played well in the first half, experienced fluctuations in the second half and allowed the opponent few chances.
Italiano said they faced a difficult seven-match fixture list and would need to rotate the squad during the busy schedule. He said Cerny's condition would become clear after medical examinations, and that Ümit Akdağ was not included in the squad because of illness but could get playing time in upcoming matches.
Italiano also said he was pleased with the performance of Fabio Miretti, who made his first start. The coach said Miretti had played well and expressed his belief that the player would continue to develop.
Kocaelispor head coach Selçuk İnan focused mainly on the refereeing in his assessment after the match. İnan said his players had competed well and that he congratulated them for their performance.
İnan said he was upset because he believed he had not done enough to protect his players' rights off the field, and voiced his concerns about the refereeing team's performance. The Kocaelispor coach congratulated Beşiktaş on the victory and thanked the fans for their support.
