Twenty-two-year-old national athlete Hakan Büyükçıngıl, who began wrestling at the age of six at his father's encouragement, represents Türkiye in the 125-kilogram category. Büyükçıngıl has achieved numerous podium finishes at tournaments in Türkiye and has won two gold, one silver and seven bronze medals at international competitions.
Preparing for two world championships
Büyükçıngıl will compete in two more events this year and continues his preparations for the U23 World Championships, to be held in the United States from October 12 to 18, and the Senior World Championships, scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan from October 25 to November 1.
Büyükçıngıl said he had been involved in wrestling for about 15 years and was preparing intensively for both championships. The national athlete said he most recently won the Mediterranean Games.
I have two events left this year. I have both the U23 and Senior World Championships ahead of me. We are preparing well. My goal in both categories is to become world champion.

His goal is to compete in the Olympics
Büyükçıngıl said he had raised his level by winning a medal in the senior category this year and that his goal was always to win gold. The national wrestler said his biggest ambition was to compete in the Olympics.
Büyükçıngıl also offered advice to those new to wrestling, saying athletes could address their weaknesses by developing their strengths. The national athlete encouraged wrestlers to work on taking their strong qualities further.
