Nearly 500,000 liters of counterfeit and smuggled alcohol seized since New Year
According to Interior Ministry data, 29,543 suspects were detained in 22,809 operations conducted since the beginning of the year. In addition to 499,614 liters of counterfeit and smuggled alcohol, fuel, cigarettes and cigarette tubes were also seized.
Under the coordination of the Interior Ministry, police and gendarmerie teams are tracking the production, storage, shipment and sale stages of smuggled products. Operations are conducted at addresses identified through intelligence work, field inspections and technical examinations.
Since the beginning of the year, 22,809 operations have been carried out across the country. In the operations, 29,543 suspects were detained, 742 of whom were arrested. Judicial control measures were applied to 864 individuals.
In anti-smuggling operations, 499,614 liters of counterfeit and smuggled alcohol were seized. Additionally, 3,449,419 liters of fuel, 9,082,549 packs of cigarettes, 224,266 e-cigarettes and 1,087,439,576 cigarette tubes were among the seized items.
The operations prevented a tax loss of 3.545 billion liras.
