North Korea’s Foreign Ministry described the military exercise planned to begin next week between the United States and South Korea as “training for offensive warfare.”
In a statement issued Friday, the ministry said the Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise would be launched by the United States and South Korea on Monday and last 11 days.
The ministry argued that the exercise would create a different level of instability in the region. North Korea also claimed that this year’s exercise would be more dangerous, provocative and threatening than last year’s.
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said the country would exercise its right to self-defense against all threats and challenges and demonstrate its stance toward its “enemies” more clearly.
The ministry said the exercise would cover all the military capabilities and combat methods of the United States and South Korea.
