Former U.S. President Barack Obama spoke at a rally in Cleveland, Ohio, held for Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton and Senate candidate Sherrod Brown, 10 days before the November 3 midterm elections. Obama sharply criticized the war that President Donald Trump started with Iran.
Obama said Trump had started an unnecessary war that nobody wanted and nobody had voted for. He argued that Iran did not have nuclear weapons because of the agreement signed during his presidency. Obama said, "I didn't have to fire a single missile to do it. I just practiced diplomacy."
"That's why oil prices are rising"
Obama recalled that allies and U.S. military bases had come under attack during the war's seventh month, Americans had been killed and hundreds wounded. He said the United States had run out of missiles and that Iran effectively controlled the Strait of Hormuz. Obama said the war was the reason for rising oil and diesel prices.
Obama also targeted Defense Secretary Hegseth, mocking him by saying that the secretary was preoccupied with issues such as soldiers' jawlines and testosterone levels. Obama said, "These are not serious people. The problem is that you are paying the price for their unseriousness."

Obama and Trump held rallies in critical states on the same day Saturday. The White House and the Pentagon did not initially respond to Obama's remarks.
"A Cheesecake Factory opened by Saddam Hussein"
Obama also mocked the gilded renovations Trump had made at the White House. Saying that Trump had covered the White House in gold, Obama said, "He turned the White House into a Cheesecake Factory opened by Saddam Hussein."
