Companies engaged in online sales are increasingly focusing on establishing their own online stores recently. According to a study, businesses in the internet commerce sector registered 9,755 new domain names last year. This number represents a 12% increase compared to the previous year. Data shows that sites in this area have significantly increased over the past four years. While 2,400 new domain names were registered in 2022, this number rose to 8,900 the following year. In 2024, the relevant businesses opened 8,697 new pages. Especially, domain names with extensions like .Market, .Shop, .Store, and .Trade stand out. In this group, which has a total of 30,300 domain names, the largest share belongs to the .Store extension. The .Shop extension saw a 15% increase in the last year. The new domain names are mostly registered by companies in retail, wholesale, software, and IT consulting sectors. Geographically, Moscow ranks first, followed by Saint Petersburg, Moscow region, Krasnodar region, and Tatarstan. The research indicates that this increase is linked to sellers' desire to reduce dependence on large marketplaces. It is stated that businesses want to have more control over their own prices, product varieties, and customer relations. However, industry representatives believe that this trend does not yet indicate a mass migration.
