The term of Merey Mukajan, deputy secretary general of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), has ended. The OTS said it held a farewell ceremony for Mukajan on November 2 at its Secretariat headquarters in Istanbul.
The OTS announced the ceremony on its social media account in English and the five languages of its member states: Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Turkish and Uzbek. The photo shows a plaque being presented to Mukajan on behalf of the organization.

Served since November 2023
Born in 1986 in Kaynar, in Kazakhstan’s Abay region, Mukajan was appointed deputy secretary general of the OTS in November 2023 on the recommendation of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, succeeding Ambassador Yerzhan Mukash, who had held the post. During the term, Mukajan was responsible for cooperation files in areas including the economy, agriculture and health. In June 2026, Mukajan also delivered the keynote address at the OTS Competition Forum held in Shusha, Azerbaijan.
The farewell ceremony came during a period of change in the organization’s senior management. At the OTS 13th Summit held in Ankara on October 30, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mirvahid Azimov was chosen as the organization’s new secretary general, succeeding Kyrgyz diplomat Kubanychbek Omuraliev, who had completed a four-year term.
The OTS member states are Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Hungary, Turkmenistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have observer status in the organization.
