Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat met international media representatives who came to Türkiye under the European Union’s “Made in EU” agenda at a dinner held in Istanbul by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM).
The program was organized by the Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB) with the support of the Ministry of Trade and under the coordination of TİM. The Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD) and the Vehicle Supply Manufacturers’ Association (TAYSAD) also participated. During the day, the journalists visited automotive production facilities in Türkiye and observed on site the integration of the Turkish automotive industry with EU production and supply chains.

“Essential for resilient supply chains”
At the meeting, Bolat stressed that Türkiye’s full inclusion in all provisions of the EU Industrial Accelerator Act is necessary not only for Türkiye but also to preserve the competitiveness of EU industry, strengthen the resilience of supply chains and secure the future of European industry. The minister said efforts would continue with EU institutions, member states and the private sector to preserve and advance industrial integration between Türkiye and the EU.
The European Commission’s draft law, announced in March, proposed a “Made in EU” preference mechanism. Commission Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné had said that countries with existing trade agreements with Türkiye, such as the Customs Union, would also be covered. Türkiye is seeking full “Union origin” status for vehicles and parts produced in the country, particularly in the automotive sector. The draft is currently being negotiated in the European Parliament.
